A Really Late Insta-sunday

Life has been peaceful lately. More order has been put into my life by yet another unexpected internship, which I'm really grateful for. These are the times I must take advantage of, these are the times I should learn to improve myself. It's been a quite humbling experience. These are the times I learn to appreciate my parents more. These are the times I finally learn how to put on make-up. These are the times I train myself to sleep before midnight and wake up before 9. These are the times I reevaluate everything in my life, from the way I sleep to what I eat, from what I waste most of my time with to what I want to spend the rest of my life doing.

Anyways. I need to get a DSLR asap. 

Ever since I sold my DSLR...

It's been challenging not having a DSLR on me. But I guess iPhone serves more of the instant gratification, and also gives me better chances to be sneaky around random people. Photos above were taken at Hillside Farmacy in east Austin a few weeks ago. It's one of my favorite brunch places, next to the infamous Blue Dahlia's.

Just got back from spending a week in Austin. Definitely home of some of the best memories.

Summer 2012

Adventures with precious friends during my last summer in Austin. These were taken with the Yashica Electro 35 GSN + Tri-X 400. (same roll as the one from Denver)

 

 

 

Yashica Electro 35 GSN - Denver

This post and photos are about 2 months overdue, but oh wells. I held onto these films undeveloped until I could find a lab to get the films done! First roll of Tri-X 400 ever successfully used with the Yashica Electro 35 GSN. (I did take it to Europe a year ago but my rolls all turned out to be blank because I was such a noob back then. Sigh.)

A bit about the Yashica GSN: It's an easy camera to use, comes with the 45mm f/1.7 lens, super light to carry and looks sort of pretty on the outside. But focusing on this camera is a little challenging, I can never tell if I loaded in the film right AND the shutter sound is nonexistent - which can be good/bad.
Other than the focusing issues, it's great. Just have to practice more, I guess.

These photos are from when I went to Denver to visit Alice to make the 18-hr road trip back to Texas with her. I still can't believe we made it back in one day.....

The last photo is absolutely one of my favorites, and of one of my favorite people I've met in Denver! :) I met Nancy through Alice when I went to Denver, and 3 of us had a blast hiking away and eating and eating and eating until we had to leave. Still amazed at how fast we formed a good friendship within 3 days. Isn't she woooonderful?!

The FM10!

The Nikon FM10 was a heartbreaker from the start. 

I bought it off of this old lady on Craigslist when I was a sophomore in college, and the first few months of dealing with this camera were pretty frustrating and confusing. I had a major problem with focusing and working the light meter, and since this camera is completely manual - loading problems. I think I've had more blank negatives processed during this time than any other time in my life. So in short = I was a noob.

Once you get the hang of it though, this dinky little camera can be quite amazing. I still think a few of my favorite photos were taken with the FM10.

The last image isn't cropped weird, it's just an epic light leak.
